PHP was 14 this week! Even I didn’t realise it was that old, and I’ve been using it for probably nigh on 8 years. Great for some things, terrible for others, PHP is the Blu-Tak that holds half the web together, including Facebook, WordPress, and just about any bulletin board software you care to try.
I’d like to think that PHP and I have reached an uneasy truce in recent years, although I still keep an eye over my shoulder for register_globals. (So should you.)
I wonder if implementing GOTO formed part of their celebrations? That’s guaranteed to be useful.
