In every colour theres the light.
In every stone sleeps a crystal.
Remember the shaman, when he used to say:
Man is the dream of the dolphin.

It’s not often that I get a text at 2:20am in the morning. (No, really; I’m not that kind of guy.) Particularly one that says this:
Tesla boy – neon love… Love this track Rik! Thought I’d mention it to you as no one else seems to care!!!
Aside from apparently becoming the Claire Rayner of musical angst, I nevertheless found this quite pleasing and immediately whizzed off to find out who this “Tesla boy” bunch were. They seem to be Russian, and have a 5-track EP of which “Neon Love” is part. It’s pretty ace, too – the overall aura is that of The Knife being wrapped in a large woollen tea-cosy. I recommend you try them out.
And so, the two sleep-deprived electro-boppers texted away into the night…
Good stuff… it’s the audio equivalent of swimming in a meditatively melancholy Tron aquarium!
LOL! I knew you would be!! I’m getting well into this 80s revival lark!
Bless them.
PHP was 14 this week! Even I didn’t realise it was that old, and I’ve been using it for probably nigh on 8 years. Great for some things, terrible for others, PHP is the Blu-Tak that holds half the web together, including Facebook, WordPress, and just about any bulletin board software you care to try.
I’d like to think that PHP and I have reached an uneasy truce in recent years, although I still keep an eye over my shoulder for register_globals. (So should you.)
I wonder if implementing GOTO formed part of their celebrations? That’s guaranteed to be useful.
Today I discovered that Shinypixel is No. 1 on Google when searching for “the interwang“. That is all. Except that the second result for The Sisterhood Of Traveling Pants.
(Thanks to Piwik for enabling me to find out.)
One of the things that impressed me about WordPress was the out-of-the-box experience and the plugin ecosystem – you can do just about anything with the minimum of fuss possible, including upgrading and installing things. It’s A Good Thing, and something that a lot of Content Management Systems could learn from.
A particular part of said ecosystem is AnyFont, which does for WordPress excellently something that I’ve found myself hacking into various blog systems over the years – replacing headings with nice textual images. When I installed it I found that it didn’t do multi-line titles – which is why the first few blog entries on Shinypixel have short titles – so I got my hands dirty, coded it in and sent the changes off to the author.
My code has now made it into the 0.7 release, which as well as supporting multiline images now also supports OpenType fonts for your images. Many thanks to Ryan for being friendly and accepting my patches. Now you too can have multiline titles as premiered on shinypixel.co.uk!
